Thailand

Thailand is a constitutional monarchy with a population of approximately 66 million people. The country has made significant progress in social and economic development due to its pro-investment policies, well-developed infrastructure, and free-enterprise economy, resulting in many areas being well-developed. Thailand is also a popular tourist destination, known for its beautiful beaches and landscapes.

However, there is a troubling reality: Thailand serves as a source, transit, and destination country for children trafficked for sexual exploitation. According to a 2014 UNAIDS report, there are more than 123,530 sex workers in Thailand, and at least 40 percent of them are under the age of 18.

In response to this issue, WM is collaborating with other NGOs to provide shelter for children rescued from human trafficking and the sex trade. Additionally, WM addresses the root causes of this problem by working within low-income communities where children are at risk, offering vocational training and scholarships to help these children.
