Kenya has the largest, most diversified economy in East Africa and has huge potential in its young, well-educated workforce, thriving private sector and natural resources. Despite this potential, it has disproportional levels of poverty, women’s marginalization, larger inequality, government mismanagement and violence. Kenya struggles with poverty in Urban and remote areas where there is no access to water sanitation, education and livelihood. WM works providing vocational training and literacy classes to marginalised widows in urban areas and in the remote area among the Turkana tribes, where WM also supports children education projects.
